Bronagh and Andy Wilson welcome you to the beautiful George Hotel in Orton. They have just taken over the running of the pub after living in the village for 17 years.
The George is a traditional Inn set in the picturesque village of Orton, on the border of the Howgills and the Eden Valley. As a family run business, you will always find a very warm welcome at any time of the year. In the summer you can enjoy freshly prepared meals and a quiet drink while relaxing in our terraced beer garden. In the winter why not draw up in front of our roaring log fire.

Bar – The open log fire and stone flagged floor are traditional in this county bar.
We serve real cask ales from the local Jennings Brewery and a guest ale that changes weekly in the summer.
Summer opening times – 12 noon to 11-00pm daily winter opening times mon & Tues 3pm to 11pm wed to sun 12 noon to 11pm
Food Serving Times – mon & Tues 6pm to 8.30pm wed – sun 12 noon to 2.30 & 6pm to 8.30pm
Delicious bar meals available throughout the year. Kids meals from £5.00 special menu provided
All our food is locally sourced within a 20 mile radius including local fisheries and farms.
The George Hotel offers eight bedrooms including single, double/twin and a family room. All rooms have tv’s & have tea and coffee making facilities & hairdryers. Ironing boards are available on request. All our rooms are warm and homely with seriously comfy beds, ideal after a hard day walking or travelling.
A laundry and drying service is available just in case you were unlucky enough to get caught in a shower of our Lakeland rain. If you are cycling, we can also offer secure overnight storage for your bike to rest.
We are now available to provide camping facilities for up to 4-5 tents £5.00 per pitch (booking is essential)
Meals are available in the bar & restaurant where you can relax and unwind at the end of the day.
We are sorry that we are unable to accommodate dogs. However, Guide Dogs are welcome.
