Detailed Information

Since the 16th century an Inn has stood on the present site of The Dacre Arms, previously named The Cross Keys.

With stabling for 50 horses around a cobbled yard, The Dacre Arms (named after Lord and Lady Dacre), became the most important Posting Station in the East Riding, offering visitors a welcome refreshing drink and wholesome food. In one small room the Inn housed the local Court of Justice.

At the rear was another small room, the ‘Jockey Room’ used for harnessing. Also at the back of the Inn, a lattice window overlooking the yard containing 150 pieces of glass. In the tradition of time The Dacre Arms had its own brewery too. A ‘secret’ room was entered only by  a trapdoor and served fugitives from the 1745 jacobite rebellion. Later smugglers used the room to hide contraband.

Today you will find a relaxed mixture of great beers and delicious home cooked dishes in a lovely East Yorkshire village pub! Our menu is based around traditional pub dishes, using locally sourced ingredients wherever possible. Every Friday our chefs put together a themed food menu (Indian, Greek, Italian, French ect) where you can sample homemade worldwide cuisine!

We look forward to seeing you soon!
