Nick Brown, Premier Foods

Premier Foods has appointed Coca Cola executive Nick Brown as its new director of ESG.

Brown has joined the ambient giant today (16 August) from his previous role as sustainable packaging director at Coca-Cola Europacific Partners.

Brown worked for CCEP for more than two decades, where he held senior roles leading various operational and commercial functions before heading up its sustainability and sustainable packaging teams.

In this newly created role, Brown will oversee Premier Foods’ growing environmental, social and governance agenda and be “responsible for delivering against its ambitious sustainability targets”, it said.

This includes reaching 100% recyclable, reusable or compostable plastic packaging by 2025.

Encouraging healthier choices was also “crucial” to the role and Premier Foods’ wider ESG strategy, it said.

This would involve enhancing the nutrition profile of its core ranges, and creating at least one “better for you” option in every range.

Brown will report to corporate affairs and ESG director Hannah Collyer. He will also work with Juliette Mille, who was appointed to the permanent role of ESG manager earlier this year.

Together, Brown, Collyer and Mille – who are now represented on the executive leadership team – “will ensure sustainability is incorporated throughout the supply chain, from sustainable sourcing through to responsible marketing”, said Premier Foods.

This was a “hugely exciting time to join Premier Foods”, said Brown.

“I see a real opportunity to build on the momentum of the last 18 months, which has rightly brought ESG into sharper focus,” he added.

Collyer said Brown’s appointment was “demonstrative of the importance we place on ESG”.

“Nick brings with him a wealth of experience and a true passion for sustainability that will be vital in helping to deliver our sustainable growth model,” she added.
