Irie Eats range image

Grace Foods has launched a Caribbean street food range into Tesco.

Called Irie Eats, the range features four meal kits and a microwaveable rice & peas side (rsp: £1.75-£3.50/250g-515g).

It would offer customers ”authentic” ingredients, including “signature jerk seasoning sourced directly from trusted island growers”, it said.

All products are suitable for vegans and follow a five-step process to get them ready to serve in under 25 minutes.

Grace Foods cited 2021 Mintel data, which revealed that nearly half (49%) of Brits would like to try Caribbean cuisine at home.

“This is a significant and exciting opportunity for us to introduce authentic, traditional and flavourful Caribbean meal solutions to a new consumer audience”, said Grace Foods brand manager Giuseppe Vullo.

“We’re excited to continue building awareness of Caribbean food in the UK market, providing a delicious and easy-to-use range inspired by classic island favourites”, he added.

It follows a raft of NPD in the meal kits category over recent months.

Last month, Nestlé unveiled its Middle Eastern-inspired meal kit brand, Mezeast.

In March, Old El Paso launched its Fajita Melt kit, billed as a “delicious, toasted tortilla filled with various deli ingredients and topped with a creamy cheese sauce”.
